Shepherds' Inn B&B

The Shepherds' Inn was established in 1996.  It was the birthplace and childhood home of the owner Don. The Innkeepers  live just across the road so our guests have all the privacy they want.  If they want to visit, we are there for them, too.

A tree lined drive leads to the 1 1/2 story house nestled on a tree covered hill.  Guests approaching the house see a front porch with table and chairs awaiting someone to sit and enjoy the quiet countryside.  Through the front door is the elegantly decorated parlor full of antique furniture.  Modern conveniences such as full package satellite TV,VCR and DVD are there for everyones enjoyment.  The dining room is where a candlelight breakfast is elegantly served using linen napkins on a lace covered table, heirloom silverward and attractive dinnerware.  In the corner of the room our stand-in butler "Mario" holds snacks during the evening hours.  Hot and cold beverages are available 24/7.  A 1913 pump organ is in the room to be played by those so talented or a 1913 Victrola complete with antique records.

There are 3 guest bedrooms in the home, all with queen beds and private bathrooms.  A NEW ITEM FOR THESE COOL/COLD NIGHTS IS A TOWEL WARMER IN EACH BATHROOM.  IMAGINE GETTING OUT OF THE TUB OR SHOWER AND WRAPPING UP IN A NICE WARM TOWEL AND ROBE.  The Cherub Elegance is located on main floor.  The bed is a birds-eye maple high back bed with ornate spoon carvings.  An adjoining room is perfect to watch TV or add another person on a sofa bed.

There are two bedrooms on second floor.  The Victorian Rose is decorated in burgundy and hunter green.  Lace and roses are throughout.  The sunny south exposure makes this a very romantic room.  The queen sized spool bed was handmade in Pennsylvania in 1840.  A pigeon hole desk serves as a writing desk or make-up table with a light above. Newly weds can enjoy a private breakfast served in this room Adjoining is  a large bathroom with a claw foot tub surrounded by lace curtains and also has a free standing corner shower.

The other bedroom on 2nd floor is named Moonlight & Roses.  The high backed owk bed is queen size.  The private bathroom has a sky light where the moonlight can shine in.  How romantic is that?

A gift shop is on premises where homemade chokecherry, plum and mulberry jellys and syrups are sold.  These are made right here at the B&B.  Soy candles, moisturing lotions and a variety of other things grace the shelves.

The outdoor hot tub is the ultimate in relaxation.  Many guests have viewed the constellations for the first time in their lives.  They say they can't see stars from their city homes with bright street lights.  An awesome experience for many.  On occasion, one might hear a howling coyote in the distance.  Early morning hot tub users might hear roosters crowing in the distance, a rarity these days.

A petting zoo is here for children and adults of all ages to enjoy.  Bingo is the main attration, kissing guests, especially liking bearded men.  The Sicilian donkeys don't let anyone get away without giving them a little attention.  This is especially true of Thurman the male donkey.  Each spring and fall usually bring an offspring from either Thelma or Precious, the females.  The angora goats love to be fed dried bread.  We shear them twice yearly for the mohair they produce.

A walking trail is available for those who want to walk.  The view is awesome from the top of the hill, looking down on the B&B and surrounding countryside.  A bench sits atop the hill to rest and enjoy the view.

The Shepherds' Inn is a member in good standing of the NABB, Nebraska Association of BEd & Breakfasts having been inspected and approved.  It is continually monitored by the use of comment cards which are in the rooms.  Corporate and government rate discounts are available to the business traveler.  The Inn is smoke and pet free and excessive alcohol consumption is prohibited.

The Shepherds' Inn offers a quiet escape tucked away in the heart of the country.  Our goal is to make you our guests feel pampered.  Please consider us your home away from home.
