$125,000 tourism marketing grants awarded to 30 businesses and organizations

 

MARCH 18, 2011 (LINCOLN, NEB.)—The Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s (DED) Travel and Tourism Division has awarded $125,000 in grant funding to 30 businesses and organizations for tourism advertising, marketing, and promotional efforts.  The grants come from the Division-administered Tourism Marketing Grant program.

 

“These kinds of grants are especially needed and welcomed when economic times are challenging,” said Richard Baier, DED director. “Travel and tourism has had a long history of growth in Nebraska and provides income and employment opportunities throughout the state, including our most rural areas.  The grants will help leverage many varied efforts to spread the word on the many attractions and events to visit in our state.”

 

Grant amounts, ranging from $2,073 to $7,335, will help support the production and placement of mass media advertising, production of brochures, website development, and related efforts.

 

Receiving grants are:

 

  • Kearney Visitors Bureau/Nebraska Flyway Coalition: $6,900 for newspaper and internet advertising
  • Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway: $6,960 for magazine and internet advertising
  • Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau: $5,250 for website enhancement
  • Adams County Convention and Visitors Bureau: $5,600 for radio and newspaper advertising
  • Sherman County Economic Development Corporation: $2,623 for brochure and travel show promotion
  • Kearney Visitors Bureau: $6,124 for mobile website and brochure distribution program
  • Ho-Chunk Community Development Corporation/ Looking for Art Tour: $5,062 for radio and billboard advertising
  • Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce, Inc.: $3,219 for brochure
  • Pender Economic Development, Inc./ Pender Bender BBQ: $2,084 for brochure and radio and magazine advertising
  • Willa Cather Foundation: $4,620 for magazine advertising
  • Burwell Area/Garfield County Convention and Visitors Bureau: $6,300 for television advertising
  • Nebraska Wine and Jazz Festival/Kearney Area Community Foundation: $2,073 for television advertising
  • Heritage Nebraska: $4,168 for magazine and newspaper advertising
  • Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau: $7,335 for banner stands and photography for travel show promotion
  • Northeast Nebraska Travel Council: $5,838 for website redesign
  • Friends of Homestead/Beatrice: $3,400 for rack card production and distribution
  • Nebraska Association of Bed and Breakfast: $3,640 for rack card production and magazine advertising
  • Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau: $3,210 for holiday guide production and distribution
  • Norfolk Great American Comedy Festival: $3,935 for newspaper advertising
  • Hall County Convention and Visitors Bureau: $6,125 for brochure and travel show promotion
  • Lincoln Triathlon: $2,170 for magazine advertising
  • Hooker County: $2,336 for brochure and magazine advertising
  • Cass County Lofte Community Theatre: $2,172 for newspaper advertising, regional guide advertising, and rack card and poster production
  • Bridges to Buttes Scenic Byway: $3,750 for website development
  • South Sioux City/ Cardinal Festival Days: $3,838 for radio advertising
  • Lincoln County Historical Museum: $3,500 for website development
  • Western Nebraska Tourism Coalition: $3,547 for map distribution and website development
  • Stuhr Museum: $3,000 for newspaper advertising
  • Great Platte River Road Archway: $3,422 for rack card production and distribution and banners
  • Keith County: $2,800 for website development
