2011 Nebraska Travel Conference in Omaha
Oct. 18-20 event will explore state’s third largest industry

LINCOLN, NEB. (Sept. 26, 2011)—The Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s Travel and Tourism Division invites the state’s travel industry to attend its annual Travel Conference. This year’s event will be Oct. 18-20 at the Ramada Plaza Omaha Hotel and Convention Center – CoCo Key Water Resort, 3321 S. 72nd St.

Anyone with an interest in supporting and promoting tourism in Nebraska, their community or county, or at their tourism attraction, festival or business should attend the Travel Conference.

Promoting and increasing tourism is a proven way to boost the state’s economy as travelers spend money on attractions, hotels, restaurants and other necessities. In fact, tourism is Nebraska’s third largest earner of revenue from outside the state after agriculture and manufacturing.

The annual conference educates members of the Nebraska tourism industry on how to grow their businesses and how to put Nebraska at the forefront of travelers’ minds. It will feature top-notch speakers on a variety of tourism-related topics such as how to prosper in today’s economy, promoting partnerships, ways to recruit volunteers and the niche sector of agri-culinary tourism.

The conference will wrap up with an awards ceremony featuring Gov. Dave Heineman and recognizing outstanding achievements in tourism in 2011.

A special conference hotel rate is available until Oct. 8. Reservations can be made by calling 402-393-3950. Be sure to mention you are attending the Nebraska Travel Conference.
